Michael Shaw, Director of Finance, offers a unique blend of accounting skills and a solid turf background. Mike is a 1991 graduate of Indiana State University with a BS degree in Accounting. After college he was hired as a partnership accountant with Browning Management, a Commercial Real Estate firm located in Indianapolis. Having worked throughout high school and college as a landscaper and golf course laborer, it didn't take Mike long to realize that his real love was the great outdoors resulting in his decision to return to school in order to pursue an alternate career. He chose Danville Community College in Illinois, which is known throughout the state as having one of the top turf programs. While at Danville, Mike earned a summer internship at Crooked Stick Golf Club, a private club in Indianapolis, where he gained the quality hands on experience necessary to launch a career in the business. His enthusiasm for turf management was unmatched and he went on to graduate at the top of his class with a 3.98 GPA. After graduation he served as the Assistant Superintendent at Bear Slide Golf Club in Cicero, Indiana for a period of three years. In 1997 Mike accepted his first Golf Course Superintendent position at Salt Creek Golf Club in Nashville, Indiana. During his three years at Salt Creek he was responsible for numerous renovation projects including the design and construction of 10 new tees, the installation of a new irrigation pump station and control package along with several other capital improvements. Mike's education and background enable him to manage any project to its fullest potential and H.G. Golf Properties looks to him to provide valuable support both in the office and in the field. |
